Market Chatter: P&G Selling China-Made Diapers at Target as US Brands Lose Share to Imported Rivals

Procter & Gamble (PG) has begun selling China-made luxury "bumbum" diapers at Target (TGT) as Pampers and Luvs lose share in the US diaper market, Reuters reported Monday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The move is unusual for P&G because most of what it sells in the US is manufactured domestically, according to the report.

Shifting to imports reflects rising costs of US manufacturing and P&G's effort to boost growth in baby care, Reuters said.

Procter & Gamble and Target did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
