Humanoid robots can now get a smarter brain courtesy of Nvidia.

On Monday, Nvidia released the Jetson Thor, the company’s latest technology solution for robots. The Jetson Thor is powered by a Blackwell GPU and incorporates 128 gigabytes of memory. The company says it delivers up to 7.5 times more artificial intelligence computing power compared with a predecessor model.

Nvidia shares rose 1% on the news.

“We’ve built Jetson Thor for the millions of developers working on robotic systems that interact with and increasingly shape the physical world,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a press release. “With unmatched performance and energy efficiency, and the ability to run multiple generative AI models at the edge, Jetson Thor is the ultimate supercomputer to drive the age of physical AI and general robotics.”

Huang has frequently said that humanoid robotics have the potential to be one of the largest industries ever. Robots can survive in more hazardous environments, work 24/7, and carry heavier objects.

Jetson Thor should enable robots to have “real-time, intelligent interactions” with people and the physical world, according to the company. Nvidia says Amazon Robotics, Caterpillar, Meta Platforms, and start-up Figure are among the first companies to adopt Jetson Thor, while John Deere and OpenAI are evaluating the technology.

Jetson AGX Thor developer kit is available for purchase Monday at $3,499. Production Jetson T5000 modules are also available at $2,999 on orders of 1,000 units.

Nvidia is scheduled to report fiscal second quarter results on Wednesday after the market close.
