Altria Group raised its quarterly dividend to $1.06 a share from $1.02 a share.
The new payout, equal to $4.24 a year, represents an annual yield of about 6.3% based on Wednesday's closing price of $67.58.
The Richmond, Va., tobacco company said Thursday that the move is consistent with its progressive dividend goal, which targets mid-single-digit dividend per-share growth annually through 2028.
The higher dividend will be paid Oct. 10 to shareholders of record as of Sept. 15, Altria said.
