The loss of boiler feed water led to a nearly day-long upset at Valero's 227,400 b/d refinery in Texas City over the weekend, the company said in an environmental filing.
The event began at about 2:10 p.m. CDT Saturday, with the loss of boiler feed water to the gas oil hydrotreater Sulfer Recovery Unit Train No. 1 and No. 2, according to a Sunday filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The event lasted 23 hours and resulted in the release of excess emissions, according to the filing.
