Alkane Resources (ASX:ALK) found "significant" gold intercepts during drilling at the El Paso prospect within the Tomingley project in New South Wales, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
Drilling targeted a prospective volcanic rock unit that is geochemically identical to the high-grade mineralization in the southern part of the deposit, with results including 8.2 meters grading 3.7 grams per tonne grade of gold from 224.8 meters, the filing said.
Next month, diamond core drilling is set to start to refine the exploration target for the prospect, per the filing.
Shares rose nearly 2% in morning trade Thursday.
