ADM, Archer Daniels Midland Company, has announced the publication of a clinical study examining the effects of the postbiotic strain Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CECT 9161 in its heat-treated form, PRIOME® Oral Care, on the oral health of adult dogs. The study, published in the scientific journal Animals, involved a randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled trial with 60 healthy adult dogs. Results demonstrated that dogs receiving a high dose of the postbiotic experienced a significant 10% reduction in dental plaque accumulation. An overall trend towards reduced dental plaque formation was also noted in the low-dose group compared to placebo. The study marks the first canine clinical trial suggesting the potential of PRIOME® Oral Care to reduce dental plaque and support the oral microbiome in dogs.
