Applied Materials (AMAT) is facing a legal action filed by Beijing E-Town Semiconductor Technologies, which accused the company of unlawfully obtaining and using its trade secrets, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing a filing from Beijing E-Town.

According to Reuters, Beijing E-Town alleged that Applied Materials infringed its trade secrets on plasma sources and wafer surface treatment and disclosed the secrets as it applied for a patent in China. Beijing E-Town is seeking about 100 million Chinese renminbi ($13.9 million) in damages, said the newswire.

Applied Materials did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
