Market Chatter: Novartis, Roche Executives to Meet With Swiss Government About US Tariffs

Novartis (NVS) and Roche executives are due to meet with Swiss government officials this week as President Donald Trump urges pharmaceutical firms to lower their prices in the US, Reuters reported Monday, citing two sources.

Economy Minister Guy Parmelin and Health Minister Elizabeth Baume-Schneider will meet with executives of the two drug makers as well as other companies, the sources told the news outlet.

Switzerland is aiming to negotiate with the US to lower the 39% tariffs announced on its exports, according to the report.

The discussions may also be about encouraging the drug makers to invest more in the US and reduce Switzerland's trade surplus with the country, which could help lower the tariffs, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Novartis and Roche did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
