Contemporary Amperex Technology (SHE:300750, HKG:3750) is set to supply electric vehicle batteries to General Motors, Reuters reported Friday, citing a source familiar with the matter.
The arrangement is a temporary measure for GM as the car manufacturer plans to manufacture its own batteries using lithium iron phosphate or LFP chemistry, the report said, citing the source.
The Detroit-based manufacturer said its Chevrolet Bolt will use LFP technology, which GM will bring to the US in 2027, according to the news agency.
