VinFast Auto Ltd. has inaugurated a new electric vehicle assembly plant at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India, marking a significant expansion of its global operations. This facility, the company's first outside Vietnam, is part of VinFast's strategic commitment to the Indian market, the world's third-largest automobile market. Initially focusing on assembling the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUV models, the plant has a starting capacity of 50,000 vehicles annually, scalable up to 150,000 units. This expansion supports VinFast's goal of promoting sustainable mobility and advancing a greener future, with an eye on reaching a production target of 1 million vehicles per year by 2030. The Tamil Nadu facility is also set to become a major export hub for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, with initial orders already secured from several countries in these regions.
