WeRide (WRD) shares were over 7% higher premarket Monday after the company said it launched the automotive-grade HPC 3.0 computing platform, which was jointly developed with Lenovo and is powered by Nvidia's (NVDA) Drive Agx Thor chips.
The new platform, which will debut in WeRide's Robotaxi GXR, decreases autonomous driving suite costs by 50%, the company said.
The company also said the platform lowers both production and maintenance expenses as it consolidates various modules including Ethernet gateway, CAN gateway, inertial navigation and collision detection. The platform's total cost of ownership over its lifecycle is about 84% lower compared with its predecessor, according to WeRide.
