Skydance Media has committed to appoint an ombudsman to review bias complaints at CBS as a condition of its merger with Paramount Global (PARA), multiple media reports said Wednesday, citing the company's letter to the Federal Communications Commission.
In a separate letter to FCC, Skydance also said it would end diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at Paramount, news outlets reported.
The ombudsman would be hired for about two years and would directly report to the new president of Paramount, Bloomberg reported. Skydance also said it will invest in local CBS affiliates to ensure varied viewpoints, the report added.
Earlier this month, Paramount Global agreed to pay $16 million to President Donald Trump to settle a lawsuit alleging bias at CBS, Bloomberg said.
Skydance Media and Paramount Global did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
