Tokyo Electric Power Company Gets 7.2 Billion Yen in Fresh Grant for Fukushima Compensation

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TYO:9501) (TEPCO), the operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, received 7.2 billion yen in grants from the Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation, according to a Thursday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The latest funding marks TEPCO's 159th request under the Special Business Plan, last revised on March 17. The company said the compensation due by the end of August would exceed earlier grants and indemnity payments.

TEPCO has so far secured 11.401 trillion yen in grants and 188.9 billion yen in indemnity payments.
