JD.com (HKG:9618, HKG:89618) recently unveiled its very first self-operated food delivery outlet in Beijing with plans to open thousands of more similar stores nationwide, Hong Kong's The Standard reported Tuesday.
The e-commerce giant's newly launched store uses robotic cooking machines to prepare meals on-site that can be delivered or scheduled for self-pickup. The outlet does not offer a dine-in option.
JD.com reportedly plans to invest billions to build a new supply chain and open 10,000 similar outlets across China within the next three years.
