BUZZ-Copper miners gain on Chinese demand hopes

** Shares of copper miners gain, tracking a rise in prices of the red metal

** Benchmark three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange CMCU3 rise 0.3% to $9,885 per metric ton

** Copper prices edge up due to hopes for firmer Chinese demand, but investors were cautious about the impact of tariffs on economic growth and inflation

** U.S.-listed shares of global mining giants: Rio Tinto RIO.N up ~3%, BHP Group BHP.N up 2.7%

** Copper miners gain: Southern Copper SCCO.N marginally and Freeport-McMoRan FCX.N 1.8%

** Canadian miners: Hudbay Minerals HBM.TO up 1.3% and Teck Resources TECKb.TO up marginally
