China Nonferrous Mining Corporation Limited has announced a temporary suspension of production at the Southeast Mine of NFC Africa Mining PLC following a fatal incident. A Chinese employee of a subcontractor was killed when an object struck the shaft on June 27, 2025. In compliance with Zambia's safety management regulations, the mine's operations are halted and expected to resume in approximately 90 days. This suspension is projected to reduce the company's copper production by about 14,500 tonnes in 2025, representing roughly 9% of its annual output. The company is implementing measures to mitigate the impact, including enhancing safety protocols and adjusting production plans.
