bp (BP) said Friday that it has agreed to sell its US onshore wind business, BP Wind Energy North America, to LS Power.
Following the transaction, BP Wind Energy will be owned and operated as part of LS Power's portfolio company Clearlight Energy, expanding Clearlight's operating fleet to approximately 4.3 GW, the company said.
BP Wind Energy holds interests in 10 operating onshore wind assets across seven U.S. states and operates nine of them, it added.
These assets have a combined gross generating capacity of 1.7 GW (1.3 GW net to BP) and are fully grid-connected, supplying power to over 15 off-takers, it noted.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, the company noted.
BP gained 1.7% premarket Friday on NYSE.
