American Water Works Co. Inc.'s subsidiary, Pennsylvania American Water, has been awarded over $48 million in funding from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects across the state. Announced by the Shapiro administration, the funding includes both grants and low-interest loans aimed at enhancing service quality and compliance with environmental regulations. The financial support will cover five specific projects in Butler, Chester, Lackawanna, and Monroe counties. Notably, a significant portion of this funding, a $25.1 million loan, will address infrastructure upgrades in Butler County. Additionally, in Chester County, a PENNVEST grant and loan will facilitate the replacement of lead water service lines in Coatesville, contributing to improved water quality.
