1605 ET - Software companies including Adobe and Salesforce could suffer from the development of AI agents by companies with cloud computing, such as Microsoft, Oracle and Google, Melius analysts say in a research note. These software providers saw big sales growth during the pandemic, but rapidly advancing AI agents can replicate many of their offerings at lower prices than the seat-based pricing models they use, which charge based on the number of software users. "Google has created imaging and video generation tools that top Adobe's and Microsoft agents can obviate costly solutions from Salesforce," the analysts said. "Companies like Adobe and Salesforce continue to rely on pricing for 'growth'just at the time disruption is about to occur." (nicholas.miller@wsj.com)
