0012 GMT - LG Chem could post above-consensus 2Q earnings, Daiwa Capital analysts Henny Jung and Yoonki Bae write in a note. Stronger-than-expected earnings from the South Korean chemical company's battery-making affiliate likely offset weakness in its petrochemical and advanced-material segments for the April-June period, the analysts say. They expect 2Q operating profit to rise 12% on year to 455 billion won, above the consensus forecast of 428 billion won. Limited demand recovery may continue to weigh on its petrochemical and other segments in 3Q, but the stock could be re-rated by its engagement in the Seoul government's initiative to boost corporate valuations, they note.
