Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical (SHA:600688, HKG:0338) forecasts it will swing to an attributable loss of between 418 million yuan and 511 million yuan in the first half, against an attributable profit of 27.9 million yuan in the year-ago period.
The oil company attributed the foreseen loss to the downward trend of crude oil prices, as well as dismal market demand, the filing said.
Shares fell 5% in Hong Kong and 2% in Shanghai during morning trading on Tuesday.
