July 14 - (The Insurer) - Berkley Specialty Excess has appointed Matt Anderson, who was most recently senior managing director for casualty product lines at Markel, as chief underwriting officer.
Berkley Specialty Excess is run by president John Termini, and is a subsidiary of WR Berkley. It offers insurance solutions for complex, high-risk exposures, focusing on environmental and excess energy coverage.
In a LinkedIn post, Berkley Specialty Excess highlighted Anderson’s “extensive experience, strong leadership, and a passion for underwriting excellence.”
Anderson worked at Markel for 26 years, serving as senior managing director for casualty product lines since February this year, and a managing director since 2023.
The Insurer exclusively reported last month that he was leaving Markel, along with executive underwriting officer for casualty Jennifer Devereaux.
