0042 GMT - Shinsegae could report an 2Q earnings miss due to fixed-cost burdens and sluggish sales on weak consumer spending, Shinhan Securities analysts Sanghoon Cho and Taehoon Kim say. The South Korean retailer's operating profit is forecast to have fallen 29% on year to 83.7 billion won for the April-June period, below market consensus, the analysts write in a note. Still, the company's earnings could start to improve from 2H, with losses at its duty-free shops expected to narrow and a temporary visa waver for Chinese tourists due to begin in 3Q, they note. They are also positive about the new Seoul government's stimulus measures to boost domestic demand. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
