Chemours (CC), LyondellBasell Industries (LYB), and other chemical manufacturers rose in recent Tuesday trading after the US Environmental Protection Agency withdrew new use rules for certain chemicals.

According to a related Federal Register document, the agency is withdrawing a proposed rule that would have set new use restrictions on 18 chemical substances. These restrictions, known as Significant New Use Rules, or SNURs, were originally proposed in June 2023 under the Toxic Substances Control Act. However, because the EPA later withdrew the underlying order that supported the rules in December 2024, the agency is now officially withdrawing the proposed SNURs.

Shares of Chemours rose 9.7%, LyondellBasell was up 4.7%, Albemarle (ALB) added 8%, and Dow Inc. (DOW) gained 4.6% in recent trading activity.
