Pacira Biosciences Inc. has announced a significant reorganization at its Science Center Campus, which involves decommissioning its 45-liter manufacturing facility. This facility has been operational since 2014, producing the commercial supply of EXPAREL. The decision comes as the company transitions to a more advanced 200-liter manufacturing process in San Diego and Swindon, allowing it to better meet growing demand and maintain optimal inventory levels. Unfortunately, the closure of the 45-liter facility has resulted in workforce reductions, affecting approximately 70 employees within the Technical Operations team. Pacira's leadership, including a visit from company executives to the Science Center Campus, is committed to treating all impacted employees with dignity and respect. Despite these changes, the company remains dedicated to its mission of delivering products like EXPAREL, iovera°, and ZILRETTA to patients.
