Concerns about inventory shortages have led 45% of parents to start shopping before June, reflecting a 12-percentage-point increase from 2024. Malls and open-air shopping centers are witnessing increased traffic as parents seek efficiency and value, with mass merchandisers like Walmart, Amazon, and Target remaining top choices due to their cost-saving opportunities. These retailers are particularly attractive to parents as inflation concerns drive 70% of shopping decisions. The survey also notes that parents are increasing their per-child spending from $329 to $386 but are strategically focusing on mass merchandisers for affordability and selection.
