Momentus Inc., a U.S. commercial space company, has announced the successful execution of Phase 3 of its contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for the on-orbit demonstration of assembling large-scale structures in space. This mission, which will be Momentus' fourth Vigoride mission and its first in collaboration with DARPA, is set to launch on a SpaceX Transporter mission no earlier than February 2026. The project aims to validate cost-effective assembly techniques, which could revolutionize operations in space by enabling more economical and simpler structures like large communications antennas and orbital manufacturing hubs. Momentus is also planning its next mission, Vigoride 8, due to high demand, and is inviting government and commercial customers to book payload opportunities.
