TradingKey – Elon Musk’s brain-computer interface company, Neuralink , has revealed its three-year technology roadmap and shared new progress in recent updates. So far, seven human patients have successfully received Neuralink implants, including four with spinal cord injuries and three with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) . On average, these users are now operating the device for more than 50 hours per week , with some already able to control video games and robotic arms using only their thoughts.

The company's long-term goal is to achieve a full-brain interface by 2028 , enabling deep integration between the human brain and artificial intelligence. In the future, this could allow users to control humanoid robots like Optimus (Tesla Bot) purely through mental commands — a major leap toward true human-machine fusion .

To speed up development, Neuralink has introduced a second-generation surgical robot , which improves implant efficiency by 11 times and can place electrodes more than 50 millimeters beneath the cerebral cortex , opening up new possibilities for advanced neural interaction.

Industry forecasts suggest the global brain-computer interface (BCI) market will expand from $2.62 billion in 2024 to around $12.4 billion by 2034 , representing a compound annual growth rate of 17.35% . The field is gaining momentum worldwide, with China also listing BCI as a key focus in its "14th Five-Year Plan" , pushing forward applications in healthcare, consumer tech, and defense.

Currently, non-invasive BCI products are gradually entering commercial markets, while invasive technologies remain in clinical trials . However, the potential is vast — and Neuralink is leading the charge.
