(Updates with confirmation from OpenAI in the third paragraph.)

Meta Platforms (META) has hired three OpenAI researchers for its advanced artificial intelligence efforts, The Wall Street Journal reported late Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The social media giant has hired Lucas Beyer, Alexander Kolesnikov, and Xiaohua Zhai, who were working in OpenAI's office in Zurich, the unnamed sources told the publication.

A spokesperson for Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI told MT Newswires in an e-mailed statement that the three researchers have "left the company," but didn't provide further details.

Meta did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
