0836 ET - Consumers are showing resilience despite a challenging economic environment. "They are adapting to economic pressures by adjusting how they shop--making more frequent trips with fewer units per basket, choosing larger pack sizes to stretch their budgets and increasingly using leftovers," McCormick & Co. CEO Brendan Foley says on a call with analysts. Consumers are also cooking at home more often. McCormick is benefiting from this trend, Foley says, as consumers are buying more spices and seasonings to enhance home-cooked meals. "We're not competing for calories," he says. "We're flavoring them." McCormick shares rise 5% premarket.(connor.hart@wsj.com)
