June 27 - (The Insurer) - Amynta Risk Solutions has announced its second senior accident and health (A&H) hire in a matter of weeks after the MGA platform added former QBE Re and HM Insurance Group executive Michael Coghlan to its ranks.
In a social media post, the company confirmed that Coghlan has been appointed head of Amynta Risk Solutions – A&H reinsurance.
He brings over two decades of experience to the role, with his career including stints at Munich Re, PartnerRe and Guy Carpenter alongside his more recent roles at QBE Re and HM Insurance Group.
Coghlan joined stop loss and reinsurance specialist HM Insurance Group in January last year as senior vice president, underwriting. Prior to HM Insurance Group, Coughlan spent four years at QBE Re, latterly as senior vice president, head of U.S. health – reinsurance.
Coughlan’s hire is the second senior addition Amynta Risk Solutions has made to its A&H team in recent weeks.
As reported earlier this month, Amynta Risk Solutions recruited Alan Wiederhold as president of its A&H unit. At the time, the MGA platform said Weiderhold will help build out its A&H product offering and enhance its value proposition to clients and brokers.
Amynta Risk Solutions, which is led by former Everest Re executive John Doucette, is an offshoot of Amynta Group, a New York-based business that describes itself as an “insurance services company”.
Amynta Group was founded in 2018 and houses a broad of range of warranty and MGA businesses which collectively generate over $3.5 billion in managed premium, with the company now home to more than 2,000 staff across North America, Europe and Australia.
