MGM Resorts International has submitted a commercial casino license application to the New York Gaming Commission and the Gaming Facility Location Board. The $2.3 billion proposal aims to transform the historic Empire City Casino site in Yonkers into a commercial casino and entertainment destination. The development is expected to create thousands of jobs and includes plans for significant infrastructure investments in Yonkers, including road improvements and sustainable energy initiatives. The project envisions expanding the casino's gaming areas, adding a high-limit lounge, a BetMGM Sportsbook, a 5,000-person entertainment venue, and new dining options. If approved, the project is projected to be completed by mid-2029.
