Singapore Shares Extend Gains; SGX Jumps 4%

Singapore shares rose for a second consecutive session on Wednesday, tracking gains across regional and global markets, as Middle Eastern hostilities eased.

The Straits Times Index ranged between 3,907.79 and 3,932.25 throughout the day. It ended the session at 3,925.98, up 21.68 points or 0.56% compared to Tuesday's close.

In corporate news, shares of Singapore Technologies Engineering (SGX:S63) were up nearly 2% at the close after its subsidiary, ST Engineering North America, entered into a sale and purchase agreement with FAYAT to dispose of its interest in ST Engineering LeeBoy.

COSCO Shipping International (Singapore) (SGX:F83) was up nearly 1% as it obtained a final permit approval for construction work at Jurong Island Logistics Hub Phase II.

Meanwhile, Sembcorp Industries' (SGX:U96) shares were down under 1% after its subsidiary, Sembcorp Financial Services, priced SG$300 million worth of 3.55% fixed-rate guaranteed bonds due 2046.
