HSBC Buys Back More Shares

HSBC (HKG:0005) repurchased 6,982,994 shares on Monday, according to a Tuesday Hong Kong bourse filing.

The lender repurchased 5,008,994 shares in the UK at a volume-weighted average price of 8.6523 pounds sterling apiece and 1,974,000 shares in Hong Kong for HK$91.6395 per share.

HSBC has so far repurchased 197,913,500 shares for nearly $2.31 billion since the current buyback program began May 6.

Following the cancellation of shares repurchased in the UK as well as some other shares, the firm will have 17,477,917,437 ordinary shares in issue.
