WASHINGTON, June 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Energy issued an emergency order on Tuesday to address potential power grid shortfall issues in southeastern states amid a widespread heatwave.
The order authorizes Duke Energy Carolina DUK.N to use specific electric generating units to operate at their maximum generation output levels due to ongoing heat conditions and to preserve the reliability of the bulk electric power system.
