1503 ET - Retail traffic in early 2025 is showing modest growth, with Western states performing particularly well while Eastern states come in softer, according to a report from Placer.ai. Retail data from May shows traffic in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana up 30% to 5.1% year-over-year, the report says. "Consumers in these states may be particularly primed to spend this summer," the report says. Several Eastern states, including Ohio, New York, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, saw year-over-year declines in May retail visits, suggesting consumer confidence in those states is more muted, the report says.
