Honeywell International (HON) said Tuesday that it, along with Near Earth Autonomy, completed the first autonomous flight of a Leonardo AW139 helicopter, advancing the US Marine Corps' Aerial Logistics Connector program.
The company said the flight, conducted in Phoenix, Arizona, took place in May, and Near Earth's autonomy software controlled the helicopter's key autopilot functions without input from a pilot or remote operator.
