Victoria's Secret Says Tariffs Will Cost About $50M This Year -- Market Talk

0950 ET - Victoria's Secret says tariffs will cost it about $50 million this year, with about $10 million of those costs hitting in the current quarter. Some of its goods were already in transit when the rate changes took effect earlier this year. It canceled orders of some raw materials out of China, but had to take a write down on them. Tariffs will also cause inventory to rise faster than sales this year. If it weren't for tariffs, inventory at year end would be flat compared with the prior year. Instead, it expects inventory to be up in the mid-single-digit range.(suzanne.kapner@wsj.com)
