Ryanair's Plane Engine Purchase to Help Manage Supply-Chain Turbulence -- Market Talk

Jun 10
0825 GMT - Ryanair purchasing 30 plane engines will help it manage supply-chain issues over the coming years, Davy Research analyst Stephen Furlong says in a research note. The expense should also be beneficial to the Irish low-cost airline's profitability, Furlong says. The company said Tuesday that it agreed with CFM to purchase the fuel-efficient engines. These should support its fleet of planes including some to be delivered in 2027, the analyst says. Overall, the 30 additional engines increase Ryanair's number of spare engines to more than 120. This enhances the company's operational resilience, Furlong says. Shares trade up 0.4% at 24.35 euros. (pierre.bertrand@wsj.com)
