Vocus, Australia's specialist digital infrastructure provider, and Telesat, a leading satellite operator, have announced a multi-year contract for Telesat Lightspeed terrestrial infrastructure and services. Under the agreement, Vocus will construct and operate Australia's first Telesat Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit $(LEO)$ Landing Station in New South Wales. This facility will provide fibre connectivity to Telesat's point of presence, linking the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation to terrestrial networks. The collaboration aims to deliver secure, low-latency satellite services for enterprise and government customers, complemented by Telesat's MEF 3.0 compliant Carrier Ethernet services. A notable feature of the Telesat Lightspeed service is its Terminal-to-Terminal direct connectivity, enabling secure communication without relying on terrestrial links, which is beneficial for mission-critical communications and data sovereignty.
