WPP's Search for CEO Successor Likely to Be Challenging -- Market Talk

1648 GMT - WPP's search for CEO Mark Read's successor won't be easy, Forrester's Jay Pattisall writes in a note. "WPP has two options in terms of succession: a change agent from the outside, who would bring fresh thinking but need to learn the WPP culture. Or an internal candidate, who would have the benefit of a fast ramp-up," he says. However, the right candidate will take over the U.K. advertising and marketing-services group at a challenging time for the industry, he adds. The company will have to find someone able to face accelerating changes while maintaining operational realities, he says. Shares are down 2.8% at 543.40 pence. (najat.kantouar@wsj.com)
