Church & Dwight issued a nationwide recall of three types of nasal swabs sold to consumers.
The Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swab, Zicam Nasal AllClear Swabs and Orajel Baby Teething Swabs are being recalled, the owner of Arm & Hammer said Friday.
The products are being recalled because of potential microbial contamination in cotton swab components.
Swabs with contamination can be a significant risk to health and safety, including life-threatening blood infections in users with compromised nasal mucosa, Church & Dwight said. The risk is highest among children and people with compromised immune systems. No serious adverse events have been reported.
Consumers who purchased the recalled nasal swabs should stop using them immediately. They can contact Church & Dwight consumer relations for a full refund.
