Matsa Resources (ASX:MAT) said pre-mining activities at its Devon Pit gold mine in Western Australia are underway, with the starter pit completed, according to a Friday Australian bourse filing.
First ore is expected to be mined in June, the filing said. The mining fleet is being mobilized, and the commissioning of the dewatering infrastructure at the mine is completed, with all water to be discharged onto Lake Carey.
The company also conducted grade control drilling with the initial focus being on the starter pit and the northern part of the main lode.
The ore will be stockpiled at the site, and ore haulage to FMR Investments' Greenfields Mill will start in July, where the first parcel of 50,000 tonnes of ore is expected to be processed in mid-late September.
The firm's shares jumped nearly 5% in recent trading on Friday.
