June 6 - (The Insurer) - Chubb Tempest Re's James Spencer has resigned from the firm to take up a position at Axis Re, four senior marine reinsurance market sources told The Insurer.
One senior reinsurance source said that Spencer will be based in London and will hold the role of senior underwriter, marine.
Three senior marine reinsurance market sources said that Spencer will report to Axis' marine reinsurance head Jonathan Davey, who this publication exclusively reported had been hired from Chord Re in April.
Spencer spent more than two years at Chubb Tempest Re, three senior marine reinsurance market sources said, latterly as head of marine and energy.
His insurance career also includes 16 years at Transatlantic Reinsurance, including as assistant vice president for marine and offshore energy treaty, as well as a year-long stint at AIG.
Axis declined to comment. Chubb did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
