Tensions between Elon Musk and President Trump were already bubbling during a series of Musk's media appearances ahead of their epic fallout.
In an interview that aired Sunday, Musk told "CBS Sunday Morning" that Trump's spending bill undermined the work he was doing at DOGE and that he needed to focus more on his companies again.
"I think I probably did spend a bit too much time on politics," Musk told Ars Technica, adding that he had reduced his contributions in recent weeks. In an interview with Bloomberg, Musk said that he would "do a lot less in the future" in reference to political spending. "I think I've done enough," he added.
