--Anglo American is about to begin the divestment of its stake in De Beers after it received interest from potential buyers, including two former chief executives of the diamond company, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.
--Former De Beers bosses Gareth Penny and Bruce Cleaver are both leading groups that are potential buyers. The company has also drawn attention from Australian mining veteran Michael O'Keeffe, Bloomberg says.
--In February, the mining giant wrote down the value of the unit for a second time to about $4.1 billion.
-- The sale of De Beers is the final step in Anglo American's sweeping restructuring plan aimed at refocusing on core assets like copper and iron ore, Bloomberg adds.
