Amynta Risk Solutions hires Weiderhold as president of A&H

By Chris Munro

June 6 - (The Insurer) - Amynta Risk Solutions has recruited Alan Weiderhold as president of its accident and health unit.

The new hire brings over 30 years of healthcare experience to Amynta Risk Solutions, and the MGA platform said Weiderhold will help build out its A&H product offering and enhance its value proposition to clients and brokers.

In announcing Weiderhold’s arrival, Amynta hailed the recruit’s “strong background” in medical stop loss coverage, along with his experience with third party administrators to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions to customers.

It is unclear what role, if any, Byron Way now holds at Amynta Risk Solutions. Way joined Amynta Risk Solutions as president of A&H from Skyward Specialty last July, a role in which he was tasked with building out the expansive platform’s medical stop loss business.

At the time of publication, Amynta had not responded to questions regarding Way’s position at the company.

Weiderhold has joined Amynta Risk Solutions having most recently served as the founder and CEO of Neuma Health.

His career also includes over five years at EVHC, almost nine years at Trustmark’s CoreSource and over a decade at Principal Financial Group.

Amynta was founded in 2018 as an MGA business and has since developed into a warranty and P&C and specialty-focused platform with over 2,000 staff across North America, Europe, and Australia and which generates more than $3.5 billion in managed premium.

In July last year, Amynta drafted in former Everest Re executive John Doucette to spearhead the launch of its Amynta Risk Solutions division.

Under Doucette’s oversight, Amynta Risk Solutions has grown through a combination of hires and M&A.

Alongside the arrivals of Doucette, Way and Weiderhold, Amynta Risk Solutions has inked deals for Crum & Forster’s credit division, along with Unum’s medical stop-loss MGU.
