CHICAGO, June 6 (Reuters) - Spot soybean and corn basis bids were mostly steady to higher at U.S. Midwest processing facilities and river terminals on Friday amid a lack of selling by farmers, grain merchants said.
The soybean basis rose by 5 cents per bushel at a river terminal in Seneca, Illinois, and was unchanged elsewhere.
The corn basis fell by 16 cents at a grain elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio, and rose by 4 cents at an ethanol plant in Union City, Indiana.
"Farmer selling appears to be slow still and the soybean basis values at the processor are quiet," CHS Hedging said.
Farmers have largely finished planting corn and soybeans.
Mostly cloudy, humid weather and scattered showers were limiting late-season planting efforts in the Corn Belt, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a daily weather report.
The USDA on Monday is slated to issue weekly updates on corn and soy crop condition ratings.
