During Elon Musk's recent volley of X posts criticizing Donald Trump and his "big, beautiful bill," search interest in Musk surpassed the president, according to Google Trends. It's the first time that search interest in the Tesla CEO outpaced Trump during one of his presidential stints. Google Trends data is a sampling of Google queries.

Interest in Musk spiked higher than Trump a couple of times previously: during Musk's appearance on "Saturday Night Live" in May 2021 and in spring 2022 when Musk provided Starlink terminals to Ukraine, and when he showed interest in buying Twitter. Trump was out of office during both occasions.
