Amneal Pharmaceuticals (AMRX) is recalling three lots of sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim tablets due to microbial contamination, the US Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday.

The recall was issued after a product quality complaint over the appearance of black spots on the tablet surface, the FDA said.

The lots in question were distributed nationwide to wholesalers and distributors between December 4, 2024 and May 15, 2025, according to the FDA.

The tablets are used for the treatment of urinary tract infections.
